The first Portugal Invitational brought PGA TOUR Champions to Portugal for the first time, welcoming thousands of spectators from Portugal and around the world to The Els Club Vilamoura for a memorable week of golf.

The week began with an Opening Press Conference, bringing together key figures behind the tournament, including host Ernie Els, alongside representatives from PGA TOUR Champions, Turismo de Portugal, Turismo do Algarve and the event’s partners. The Pro-Am was another highlight of the week, bringing together professional golfers and invited guests, with Portuguese football legend Luís Figo among the familiar faces taking part. The tournament also marked a special return for Bernhard Langer, who came back to Portugal 50 years after making his professional debut, a particularly memorable moment in one of golf’s most distinguished careers.

Away from the course, the Public Village offered activities and experiences for spectators throughout the week, adding to the atmosphere around the tournament.

The first edition culminated with Zach Johnson claiming the inaugural Portugal Invitational title, finishing at 19-under par and becoming the first name on the tournament’s roll of honour.

The Portugal Invitational will return to the Algarve in 2027.
